Laura Heron, General Manager of Guardsman Hospitality, which operates Fort Clarence Beach
Beach goers will have not have access to Fort Clarence Beach in Hellshire, St. Catherine this Heroes weekend, as it will remain closed to the public.
Guardsman Hospitality, which has leased the property, said it has not been able to make substantial remedial infrastructure changes due to circumstances beyond its control.
RJR News spoke to Laura Heron, General Manager of Guardsman Hospitality, however, she declined to give details of the challenges being faced by the company. She said the company will advise the public as soon as another date is set for the reopening of the facility.
Guardsman Hospitality started its 25 year lease of the beach on September 1.
The beach was expected to re-open Friday, October 18, following minor upgrade.
It is expected that it will be developed over a five year period, with major infrastructure changes starting late next year.
Meanwhile, Guardsman Hospitality said sargassum management has already begun on the property.
It said a system is being designed to prevent the seaweed from reaching the shores.
