Four arrested in relation to gun find in Portland

Four men suspected to be members of a criminal network were captured Friday morning during an operation in Snow Hill district in Portland.
 
Superintendent Kenneth Chin, head of the Portland Police Division, told Radio Jamaica News that the men were held in a targeted operation, launched early Friday, in search of wanted men and illegal guns in the parish.
 
During the search, the police found a 9 millimeter pistol along with a magazine containing four cartridges. The four men were arrested in connection with the find. 
 
Superintendent Chin said this is the third firearm seized in the parish since the start of the year. 
 
He also celebrated a 57 per cent decrease in serious and violent crimes in the parish and a 116 per cent case clear-up rate.  
 
He added that six wanted persons have been taken into custody and several major drug shipments intercepted by the Portland police since the start of the year.
