Greater Portmore Police searching for men who tried to smuggle contraband onto its compound

The Greater Portmore Police have launched a manhunt for two men who attempted to smuggle a large quantity of contraband onto the compound of the police station on Wednesday night.
 
Senior Superintendent Christopher Phillips, head of the St. Catherine South Police, told Radio Jamaica News that about 11:50, police personnel observed two men lurking suspiciously near the station and gave chase.
 
The men fled, leaving behind two bags, which contained 16 cellular phones.
 
Nine SIM cards, 16 cellular phone batteries, seven phone chargers and three earpieces were also seized.
 
The cops additionally seized three hacksaw blades, one pound of ganja, 'grabba', 17 lighters, 23 packs of rizla, 240 cigarettes, rum in plastic bags, three razor blades and one tube of bleaching cream.
 
SSP Phillips said the items were destined for the lockups as in recent times there has been an aggressive attempt to get contraband inside the facility.
 
The commander said he has heightened security around the facility and warned that there will be restrictions on visits to the station.
