Haiti is among 18 hotspot countries where hunger is set to worsen as the conflict in the country puts people at risk of starvation.
In a report published by the Food and Agriculture Organization and the World Food Programme, Haiti and Mali have been elevated to the highest alert level.
Hotspots at the highest level are defined as having communities facing or projected to face starvation, or are at risk of sliding towards catastrophic conditions.
This also relates to whether or not the country already has emergency levels of food insecurity and is facing severe aggravating factors.
The UN agencies said these countries have been elevated to this level because of movement restrictions affecting people and goods.
The report calls for urgent humanitarian action to save lives and livelihoods and to prevent starvation and death.
