Face-to-face classes have been suspended at Chandler's Pen Infant and Primary School in Clarendon after four suspected cases of hand, foot and mouth disease were reported among students from the infant department.
It's reported that students from grades 1 to 6 in the primary division were in contact with students from the infant department during a treat held on Friday.
A statement from the Ministry of Education says the students will not return to the school for the rest of this week, while deep cleaning will start today (Tuesday).
All classes will be facilitated online, the ministry added.
Initial signs of hand, foot and mouth disease include fever, loss of appetite, sore throat and a feeling of malaise.
The symptoms generally last for one to two days before a blister-like rash appears on the hands, feet and in the mouth.
