The International Police Organization (INTERPOL) on Wednesday opened a regional liaison office in Barbados.
It has promised to create an international network that would help Caribbean countries in their crime fighting efforts.
Stephen Kavanagh, INTERPOL executive director of Police Services, says the organisation has data to help in the detection of criminals.
Barbados Foreign Affairs Minister, Dr. Jerome Walcott, says the liaison office represents a commitment made by INTERPOL in 2013, to develop collaborative efforts with the CARICOM Implementation Agency for Crime and Security (IMPACS).
The liaison office will support the 15-member CARICOM and the five associate members of Anguilla, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands and Turks and Caicos Islands.
