Jamaican in Antigua and Barbuda fined in connection with drug bust

A Jamaican man has been fined in Antigua and Barbuda after admitting to importing two pounds of  ganja.

It’s reported that 2 old Rumar Bailey was on Wednesday ordered to pay EC$16,000  in connection with a drug bust at V.C Bird International Airport on August 11.

Police and customs officers conducted an operation at LIAT Cargo and found the ganja hidden inside cans.

A report in the Antigua Observer newspaper says Bailey pleaded guilty to importing ganja but denied the charges of  possession and possession with intent to supply.

The prosecution accepted his plea.

Bailey, who has lived in Antigua since the age of  nine, was given two years to pay the fine or spend two years at Her Majesty's Prison.
