A 23-year-old Jamaican man was on Tuesday sentenced to ten years in prison for his role in a string of armed robberies at AT&T stores in Connecticut and Massachusetts in the United States.

Alex Josephs, who appeared in the US District Court in Bridgeport, should also pay restitution of $298,000.

Josephs will face immigration proceedings when he is released from prison.

Another Jamaican, Shaquille Raymond, was previously sentenced to six years imprisonment.

They are among five people who were charged in relation to the robberies that occurred in 2021.

The group was captured on June 6 that year, after leading the police on a high speed chase following the robbery of a store in Massachusetts.

All five pleaded guilty to charges.

According to court documents, four men collaborated to enter the AT&T stores around closing time. They pointed guns at employees and sometimes pistol whipped, shoved and dragged them while robbing the stores.

The lone female charged in the case worked at the AT&T stores. She helped the men to plan the robberies, drove the getaway car, and coordinated the sale of the stolen items.
