Jamaicans allegedly involved in international money laundering scheme agree to be extradited

The three Jamaicans indicted in an international drug and money laundering scheme have waived their rights and agreed to be extradited to the United States to stand trial.

Saint Devon Anthony Cover, Benjamin Afflick and Dennis Raymond Rowe agreed to surrender to US prosecutors when they appeared before the St. Andrew Parish Court on Tuesday.

A senior commander at the Narcotics Division told Radio Jamaica News that arrangements have been made for the men to be taken to the US to stand trial on drug and money laundering charges in Boston, Massachusetts.

In a statement, the narcotics police reported that the three men were held via provisional arrest warrants pending extradition.

Seventeen other suspects were arrested in Colombia and the US.

The narcotics police say the arrests follow several years of investigations involving partners in Colombia and the US.

They say the dismantling of the drug network is expected to disrupt the narcotics trade in the region.
