Lobby to push back SBA submission date could be fruitful, says Wright

Linvern Wright

Linvern Wright, President of the Jamaica Association of Principals of Secondary Schools, has disclosed that push back against the May 15 date for the submission of School Based Assessments (SBAs) might achieve the desired results.

Mr. Wright said he received information on the lobbying efforts of  stakeholders across the region and is awaiting word on the outcome.

He said with face-to-face classes suspended in Jamaica, students and teachers are facing an uphill task to complete SBAs on time, especially those with a practical component.

Mr. Wright reiterated that the date for submission should be extended.

"Somebody needs to be on the ground, understanding what is happening, understanding how schools are struggling, and say, 'Okay, given what we know, we had set a date for May, we might have to put it in June, given the fact that students have been out for months,'" he reasoned.

Mr. Wright was speaking Monday on the Morning Agenda on Power 106.
