Gunmen struck in St. Mary on Tuesday, leaving one man dead and another hospitalised with bullet wounds.
A Jamaica Defence Force soldier was also attacked in the incident, but he was able to elude the gunmen.
Investigators say 31-year-old Sanjay Stewart, a construction worker of Crooked River, was killed in the incident.
It's reported that about 4:30 p.m., Mr. Stewart and the soldier were patrons at a bar in Crooked River when armed men entered and fired at Mr. Stewart, hitting him several times.
A 47-year-old salesman was also hit, as the other patrons fled.
The soldier jumped into a vehicle and sped way in a bid to escape the attackers.
Radio Jamaica News was informed that the vehicle was chased by the gunmen who again opened fire at the JDF member. He escaped unhurt.
The two wounded men were taken to hospital where Mr. Stewart was pronounced dead.
Several spent shells were found at the scene.
