Manchester resident urges caution from motorists following deadly crashes

By Kimone Witter

Three motor vehicle crashes that resulted in two fatalities and several injuries in Manchester over the last five days have prompted a call from a resident for motorists to drive more carefully.

The latest crash occurred along the Fine Grass main road near Chudleigh on Tuesday, involving a Toyota Probox and an Audi. Two children were reportedly among the injured.

Two days earlier on Sunday, along the same road, 28-year-old Kamona Forrest, of Bombay in the parish, died, while a man and a woman were seriously injured after the Nissan Sunny motorcar in which they were travelling crashed into a utility pole and then a concrete wall.

A motorcyclist also died on Friday while travelling in the opposite direction along the one-way dual carriageway on Caledonia Road.

Matthew Wilkie reportedly crashed into a car in the vicinity of North Race Course Road.

Everton, a resident of the Fine Grass community, is concerned that in spite of the poor road condition, motorists are not adhering to posted warning signs and the rules of the road.

With the road in what he said was deplorable condition, he urged motorists not to speed, warning that there are "families out there who are suffering...so be careful".
