With a little over two months left in the year, Jamaica's murder tally has exceeded the 1,000 mark.
Some 997 homicides were recorded up to Saturday.
Statistics from the Jamaica Constabulary Force show that since January, 2,600 cases of serious and major crimes, including murders, shooting, rape as well as aggravated assault and robbery have been committed in Jamaica.
Illegal guns were used in 83 per cent of the killings.
