One of Jamaica's most wanted men killed by police on Sunday

A man described as one of  the country's most wanted was shot and killed by the police in Discovery Bay, St. Ann on Sunday.
 
Ainsley Woodburn, also known as Shortman, was on the run since escaping from the Freeport police lock up in St. James last October.
 
He had was charged with six murders.
 
Assistant Commissioner Calvin Allen, commanding officer for the Area Two, told Radio Jamaica News that  Woodburn pointed a firearm at the police and was shot.
 
He said the police, "acting on intelligence," went to "a particular area in Discovery Bay" pursuit of Woodburn, and there the fugitive opened fire the police.
 
"The police returned the fire; he was injured; he was rushed to the hospital where he succombed to his injury."
 
The senior cop reported that a 9mm Glock pistol and a magazine with seven rounds of ammunition were recovered in the operation.
