Dr Morais Guy, Opposition Spokesman on Health, has described the COVID-19 pandemic in Jamaica as a runaway train.
On Monday night, Dr. Guy told Radio Jamaica News he's concerned the government is not approaching the issue of testing seriously.
Describing the situation as one akin to "a runaway train that the government is... seemingly not taking responsibility for," he said he was concerned that the government had stopped "certain types of (COVID-19) testing," and was now confining testing to persons hospitalised, to critical care patients, "and to patients who come in with respiratory infections."
Jamaica's death toll from COVID-19 has increased to 70 on Sunday, with the Ministry of Health & Wellness reporting that the virus claimed three more lives.
There were also 155 new cases, pushing the tally to 5,143.
But according to Dr Guy, "even though they have reported that they've tested five/six hundred cases, that is just a tip of the iceberg."
