Consultant physician Dr. Arna Brown-Morgan is asserting that there are no COVID-19 booster shots available in Jamaica.

Speaking on Radio Jamaica's weekly review programme That's a Rap, this afternoon, Dr. Morgan-Brown said the unavailability of the booster shots is concerning due to increased travel to Jamaica from countries like the United States, where the Kraken subvariant of COVID-19 is present.

She says the COVID-19 booster is necessary to maintain strong protection from severe coronavirus disease for persons who have completed their primary vaccine series.

Dr. Brown-Morgan says the Ministry of Health is also experiencing challenges sourcing the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine.

Meanwhile, Dr. Brown-Morgan is calling for the Ministry of Health to intensify its COVID-19 vaccination and public education programmes. She says the ministry should revert to giving frequent, live updates on the virus.
