People's National Party president Mark Golding is confident of a win in the upcoming general election based on feedback from Jamaicans to the party's plans for the country should it form the next government.
The PNP officially launched its election campaign in East Rural St. Andrew last week.
Mr. Golding says the PNP is prepared to do what is necessary to present the party as the best option for Jamaicans.
He says the general sentiment from the campaign trail is that the PNP will form the next government.
"So far, I would say it's been going well. We had a wonderful day in Manchester earlier this week, and the response there was extremely positive, and we'll be doing a number of things of that nature in the coming weeks and months, covering the island. And it's just part of the job of the leader, the parties, to be present, where people can touch and feel and experience contact with the person that they regard as the next prime minister. So it's good," he asserted.
Meanwhile, Mr. Golding addressed the contention surrounding the removal of Lawrence Rowe as the caretaker for the Kingston Central constituency.
"There was a candidate in place. You know, for various reasons that wasn't a tentable situation, so we will be very soon announcing somebody I believe, but other than that situation, all of the seats have candidates now,"he outlined.
Mr. Rowe has suggested in a Facebook post that he was forced out of the position amid a breakdown in negotiations with the party's hierarchy.
Radio Jamaica News sources have confirmed that retired crime fighter Senior Superintendent Steve McGregor is to be announced as the caretaker.
