People's National Party President Mark Golding has again criticised the government over its handling of the health sector.
Mr Golding, addressing the party faithful in East Central St Catherine on the weekend, promised to fix the ills of the sector.
Among these issues to be addressed, he cited "the long waiting times without a bed, the costs of all the diagnostic tests which are being outsourced to the private sector because the basic equipment is not being maintained in the public health system."
He listed elevators, air conditioning units, cat scan machines as examples of items "either not working or are not available to the people."
"When we form government we will fix those things," he promised, while cautioning that "it won't happen overnight."
But, he said, the Opposition is awared that "the role of the public health system is to inspire confidence in the people and in those who visit our shores, that if they get sick, they can go to a public health facility and receive a good standard of care within a reasonable period of time."
