The Police High Command is calling for a new national focus on the issue of domestic violence.

National Domestic Violence Intervention officer Deputy Superintendent of Police Jacqueline Dillon says there is a normalising of violence that needs to be repudiated by all well thinking members of society.

She says a new way of thinking needs to be adopted to eliminate all forms of violence.

In that vein, Detective Sergeant Damian Hammond, Manager of the Portmore Domestic Violence Centre, says friends and family members need to intervene to de-escalate tensions.

The two police officers were speaking recently on the JCF's 'Force4Good' podcast.
