Portland businessman Everton McDonald, who is in custody for the murder of his wife last year, is to be charged with the 2009 murder of his first wife, Merlene.
This follows a Criminal Investigation Branch investigation.
Mr. McDonald's attorney, Bert Samuels, told Radio Jamaica News his client will be taken to court on Wednesday.
Merlene McDonald was shot dead at her gate in Boundbrook, Portland on May 4, 2009.
Investigators reopened the case last year after Mr. McDonald was arrested for the murder of his second wife, Tonia.
Her body was found in a burnt-out vehicle in Sherwood Forest, Portland. The throat was slashed.
A man, who was charged jointly with Mr. McDonald for the murder, gave prosecutors a witness statement after entering a plea deal with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The man has been sentenced to 19 years in prison, but will be eligible for parole in ten years.
A bail hearing for Mr. McDonald, which started in December, resumes in March.
