The St. Mary Police Division has recorded its first murder for 2025 following the discovery of the body of a woman along the Devon Pen main road on Sunday.
The police are seeking the public's assistance in identifying the woman who was believed to be approximately six months pregnant.
Her body had signs of strangulation and multiple abrasions.
Residents reportedly found the woman about 4 p.m. wrapped in a blue tarpaulin.
The police say she appeared to be in her mid to late twenties, of dark complexion, slim build and was clothed in a white T-shirt, blue underwear, and black socks.
Tattoos were observed on the chest, thighs, and right shoulder.
Deputy Superintendent Romeo Henry of the St. Mary Police Division says the woman's murder is a bad start to the year, but he is hopeful the strategies in place will further curtail crime.
The police are appealing to anyone with information that could assist with the investigation to contact the Port Maria Police at 876-994-4222, Crime Stop at 311, or the nearest police station.
