Several cold cases cleared following death of six of Clarendon's most wanted

The Police High Command is reporting that five cold cases have been cleared up since the deaths of six of Clarendon's most notorious criminals, during a predawn operation on Sunday.

The men were killed during a shootout with members of the Jamaica Defence Force.

In a media release Friday, the Police High Command said eyewitnesses have begun to come forward with information as the gangsters' stranglehold on the community has loosened.

The Police High Command said, so far, investigators have solved at least two murders, two cases of shooting with intent and the rape of a 13 year old girl.

The police say eyewitnesses have corroborated evidence linking slain gang leader, 29 year old Leon Rose, and another gang member to an incident that occurred on April 25, 2018.

Romaine Miller, 25, was shot dead, while another man was shot and injured on the Effortville main road in Clarendon.

Mr. Rose has also been linked to a June 13, 2018 case of shooting with intent in Effortville.

He is also accused of raping a 13 year old girl at gunpoint in Effortville on May 17 last year, while she was on her way from school.

The teenager became pregnant and later gave birth to a child.

The police say she broke her silence after learning of Mr. Rose's demise.

In the meantime, Zemar Nelson who was also fatally shot on Sunday has been linked to the murder of a teenager on April 8 this year.

Demar Lindsay, 17, of Evans Avenue in May Pen, Clarendon was at home when gunmen broke in and shot him.

The police say Leon Rose was also linked to that incident.

The police are appealing to residents of Clarendon and its environs who have information on the six men to call the 119 emergency number, the May Pen CIB at 876-832-2077 or the nearest police station.
