Police officers attached to the St. Andrew South Division fatally shot one of three men who allegedly murdered another man on Barbados Road in Olympic Gardens, St. Andrew on the weekend.
Reports are that about 4:30 p.m. Saturday, a team of officers was on mobile patrol when they heard explosions and went to investigate.
The officers were allegedly challenged by the three men.
During the encounter, one of the men, who was armed with a handgun, was fatally shot and the firearm seized.
A second operation was conducted and two men, believed to be accomplices of the man who was fatally shot, were taken into custody.
Officers say they seized a Beretta 9 millimetre pistol, a magazine containing twelve 9 millimetre rounds of ammunition, and a Glock 9 millimetre pistol during the operations.
The Police Forensics Department will test the firearms to determine their connection to this or any other incident.
The men taken into custody will be questioned in the presence of their attorneys.
