Statements collected in case involving acting PS in Education Ministry

Radio Jamaica News has been informed that a number of statements have been collected as part of the probe in the case involving Acting Permanent Secretary in the Education Ministry Dr. Grace McLean and the Joint Committee for Tertiary Education.

Highly placed sources told Radio Jamaica News that the Financial Investigation Division and the Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency (MOCA) have interviewed several people.

The Auditor-General's report, tabled on October 12, called for the police or an anti-corruption agency to conduct a probe following the transfer of $124 million by the Education Ministry to the Joint Committee for Tertiary Education under questionable circumstances.

The Auditor-General said the ministry had not been able to account for the use of the money.

Dr. McLean went on leave amid the controversy.
