At least three children are among a number of people who were left homeless Friday afternoon after a large fire gutted several houses at the intersection of Fleet and Tower Streets in Central Kingston.

Public Relations Officer with the Jamaica Fire Brigade, Emelio Ebanks told Radio Jamaica News that firefighters responded to a call at 12:52 p.m.

Units from the Half Way Tree, Rollington Town, York Park and Trench Town fire stations responded to the blaze.

Mr. Ebanks said there has been no report of injury or death among the three children and five adults who lived at the location.

"As it is now, we still have one unit on location, even though the fire has been extinguished but we're still doing some mopping up and we have investigators on the scene trying to ascertain the cause of the fire," he said.
