The Trinidad and Tobago Police have intensified road blocks and patrols at least two hours prior to the start of the nightly curfew in a bid to prevent dangerous driving and criminal activities.
Commissioner of Police Gary Griffith says the government will combat the problem.
The commissioner said since the start of the State of Emergency and the nightly curfew to curb the spread of the coronavirus, police officers have encountered persons racing to get home.
He said most prevalent is the consumption of alcohol over the prescribed limit.
A number of persons have been charged and brought before the courts.
