INDECOM Commissioner Hugh Faulkner and Deputy Commissioner of Police Fitz Jackson

Two members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force are in custody following allegations that they are linked to the murder of a 29-year-old tiler in Red Hills, St. Andrew, on the weekend.

Phillip Wallace, a resident of Green Glide Close in Red Hills, was shot dead on Saturday while outside a bar in his community.

Mr. Wallace was killed after he reportedly refused to pay money to his assailants in connection with a bribery case.

His killers, who were travelling in a white Toyota Axio, reportedly sprayed bullets at the bartender but she fled through a back door and escaped injury.

The two policemen, who are attached to the Constant Spring Police, were arrested shortly after the shooting.

The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) is investigating the incident along with the Major Investigations Division (MID).

Asked whether INDECOM was investigating a third policeman in relation to the case, Commissioner Hugh Faulkner told Radio Jamaica News he did not wish to comment at this stage "because we have to strategically and sensitively deal with the matter". Howeveer, he said more information will be made available at a later time.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Fitz Bailey on Monday afternoon told a media briefing that a third member of the Jamaica Constabulary Force implicated in the Phillip Wallace case has fled the island.

But DCP Bailey said the police are working with international partners to ensure the third suspect is found and returned to Jamaica.
