Vincent Morrison

President of the Union of Clerical, Administrative and Supervisory Employees, Vincent Morrison, is again calling for the set up of a Joint Industrial Council to better address the outstanding issues affecting security guards.
He says given the large number of security guards within the labour force, the council would be better able to lobby for the needs of the guards.
With almost 15,000 security guards in the sector, he suggested that the Joint Industrial Council would help ensure that guards "get a fair deal" going forward in terms of wages and benefits.
The council would also hear disciplinary matters in relation to the security industry.
"It must be to the put in place, and again, I'm going to use this opportunity to urge the government of Jamaica to give serious consideration towards the setting up of this council," he urged.
Mr. Morrison had previously written to the Minister of Labour, urging that this course of action be adopted to avoid chaos in the sector.
