The Union of Clerical Administrative and Supervisory Employees [UCASE] is urging the Ministry of Finance & The Public Service to meet with the unions representing public sector employees in order to resolve the concerns raised by the groups about the new pay structure.
The Jamaica Confederation of Trade Unions has accused the Ministry of breaching the Heads of Agreement under the compensation review programme, following howls of protests by public sector employees.
John Levy, General Secretary of UCASE, warned during an interview with Radio Jamaica News that the Finance Ministry should not ignore the concerns raised by the workers.
There has to be "a mechanism in place," to correct errors that have calculating errors that have arisen in the new pay structure, he argued, adding that "it can't be just left ot the regular channel and the regular team of persons at the Ministry to deal with it.
Doing so will only lead to further delays in resolving the issues, "and workers are going to become frustrated even more," he warned.
Finance Minister Dr Nigel Clarke recently disclosed that the Government had reached agreement with 99 per cent of the representative groups for the compensation reform programme during the 2022/23 financial year which ended last Friday.
Dr Clarke said the payout ratio for the groups with whom an agreement was reached is approximately 99.7 per cent.
He said allocations were not paid out to two groups as they signed at the end of March.
