A man who the St Elizabeth Police say was implicated in a number of crimes in the southern section of the parish was shot dead during an alleged shootout in Nain on Tuesday.
He has been identified as 40-year-old Mark Warren who is also known as "Black Boy".
A team of police was on a routine operation in Nain when it was fired on by a group of men.
The fire was returned and the men ran. Mr. Warren was later found suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at hospital.
The police also recovered a .38 revolver with one live round and five spent shells.
The police report that Mr. Warren and other men have been implicated in a number of robberies and shootings in Nain, Myersville as well as Junction.
