Westmoreland man charged with murder following fatal stabbing

A Westmoreland man has been charged with murder following a fatal stabbing in the parish last Friday.
Devon Ramsay, 29, has been charged in connection with the death of 52 year old Shawn Brooks of Ferris, Westmoreland.
Reports are that about 12:30 p.m., Mr. Brooks was among a group of men at a gas station in Dunbar River in the parish when a dispute developed. 
It is alleged that during the dispute Mr. Brooks used a machete to chop the man and ran. 
Mr. Ramsey intervened and stabbed Mr. Brooks.
The two injured men were taken to hospital where Mr. Brooks was pronounced dead. The other man was treated and released.
Mr. Ramsay was subsequently arrested during an operation on Sunday.
He was charged with murder on Thursday.
