Arnett Gardens wins Red Stripe Premier League

Arnett Gardens F.C. was the best team over 33 matches during the regular season.

The revamped league/cup format did not guarantee a championship, as a team which tops the league at the end of the preliminary stage, still had three matces to play, the two-way semi-final tie and the final.

And the team from South St. Andrew did not disappoint. They stamped their authority on local football at the highest level, by unseating last season's champions Montego Bay United 2-0 to win the 2014-2015 Red Stripe Premier League at the National Stadium.

In a closely fought contest, Arnett took the lead in the 58th minute through the consistent Andre Clennon, before Leon Strickland drove home the winner from the top of the box during a melee in the 64th minute to give Arnett what turned out to be the winner.

The big difference in Monday night's final, Arnett took their chances while the skillful and speedy Montego Bay United did not.

Unfortunately, the game unravelled in time added, when Montego Bay United had two players sent off, Cordel Simpson and Ladain Ritchie for unsportsmanlike conduct and dissent respectively.

It was the 4th Premier League title for Arnett Gardens and the third for winning coach Jerome Waite, all coming with Arnett Gardens.

They bankrolled $3.5 million this season. One million dollars for topping the league points standings, and another $2.5 million for winning the title.
