Western teams will for the time being spared from having to travel to the Corporate Area for games in the group stage of Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) competitions as the local governing body has adopted a county style model for domestic tournaments.
However, second vice-president of the JCA Fritz Harris does not rule out future changes to the format but feels patience is needed in order to find a workable solution for local cricket.
Radio Jamaica Sports understands that the JCA had also proposed an elite county championship which would feature 60 to 70 of the country's best players representing their respective counties.
However, the JCA has delayed the start as county officials are not in agreement with the proposed method of player selection where national selectors would have full responsibility.
