Radio Jamaica Sports understands that judgement has been reserved until June 22 in the case brought by jockey Samantha Fletcher against the regulatory body, the Jamaica Racing Commission (JRC) in the Supreme Court.
The case continued in the Supreme Court on Tuesday. Attorney Garth McBean KC who is representing the JRC and attorney Douglas Thompson who is appearing on behalf of Fletcher, both presented arguments at Tuesday's session.
Fletcher had gotten an application for leave to apply for judicial review last month in the Supreme Court where the case is being handled by Justice Simone Wolfe-Reece.
Fletcher's legal team is seeking several declarations from the Supreme Court including that the decision of enquiry made on March 7 and the decision of the JRC made on March 21 when she was handed the 25 race day ban, are illegal, void and of no effect. The ban was later reduced to 20 days upon appeal.
Fletcher was punished for not taking all reasonable and permissable measure throughout the 4th event on February 4 astride Gone A Negril to ensure the horse was given its best possible placing.
Fletcher's suspension took effect on March 18 and she resumed riding on Sunday. If Fletcher is successful in her legal battle, it's likely that she could be awarded damages.
