Merron Gordon named Reggae Boyz interim head coach for three-game tournament

Reggae Boyz assistant coach Merron Gordon has been named as the interim head coach for a three-game tournament that is to be held in Vienna, Austria, starting on August 20.

Gordon will be assisted by Vassell Reynolds during the tournament.

This comes weeks after news emerged that interim head coach Paul Hall would not be reappointed in a full-time head coach role.

Hall's contract expired after Jamaica's one-all draw with Mexico in the CONCACAF Nation's League clash at the National Stadium in June.

Hall had taken over from former coach Theodore Whitmore in December 2021 during Jamaica's failed World Cup qualification push.

The Jamaica senior men's national team will be playing Morocco, Qatar and Ghana from August 20-26.

Meanwhile, a 23-member squad has been called up for a one-week training camp at the Captain Horace Burrell Centre of Excellence.

It includes three players from Jamaica Premier League winners Harbour View.

Runners up, Dunbeholden, also have three players while Waterhouse have four players in the squad.

Jourdain Fletcher and Maliek Howell are the overseas based players in the camp.
