National junior record holder eyeing senior scalps

Voice of national junior 100m record holder Alana Reid

Young sprint sensation Alana Reid says she would relish competing with the seniors at the upcoming National Championships in July.

Reid got her first taste of competing with the seniors at the JAAA All Comers meet at the National Stadium at the weekend where she won the 100 metres in 11.06 seconds ahead of Briana Williams 11.20 and Tia Clayton 11.36.

Reid who is in her final year at Hydel High, says she is not ruling out competing against the seniors at the National Trials.

Although the 18 year old sped to a national junior record of 10.92 seconds to win the 100 metres at the ISSA Boys and Girls Championships in April, she says would like to do something special in the 200 metres before the season ends.

Reid owns a personal best of 22.95 seconds in the 200 metres which she accomplished while taking the bronze at the World Under-20 championships in Cali, Colombia last year.
