Three time former Jamaican champion jockey Andrew Ramgeet celebrated his 59th birthday in style on Wednesday by winning the race with the joint second highest purse on the 8 race card at Thistledown in Ohio in the United States.
Ramgeet got the 4-5 favourite Speighty War to produce a terrific late burst in landing the 7th event, an allowance claiming contest for 3 year old and up over 6 furlongs on the dirt for a purse of $29,800.
Speighty War was saddled by Ramgeet's wife Tina. It was Ramgeet's 20th win of the season.
Meanwhile, another Jamaican jockey, Robert Halledeen also visited the winner's enclosure on the same programme, winning aboard the 4-5 favourite Kosciuszko in the second event over 5-and-a-half furlongs for his 15th victory of the season.
