The Jamaica Scorpions put up a fight but couldn't defend the small total they set the Trinidad and Tobago Red Force as they went down by 3 wickets in their opening round CWI regional 4-day match at the Brian Lara Stadium on Saturday.
The Trinidadians who started the final day needing just 59 more runs to win with all 10 wickets in hand, suffered a middle order collapse before eventually getting to their target at 81-7.
Keegan Simmonds who resumed on 11, top scored with 38, while Isiah Raja couldn't add to his overnight 8.
Josuha da Silva 6, Jason Mohammed 4, Jyd Goolie a duck and Yannic Cariah 1, all failed as the Scorpions gave themselves a chance at an improbable victory.
But, Imran Khan 12 not out and Anderson Philip 2, saw the Red Force to victory. Off-spinner Jamie Merchant took 3-18, fellow spinner Patrick Harty 2-21 and seamer Marquino Mindley got 2-3. Scores in the match: Jamaica Scorpions 141 and 212; Trinidad and Tobago Red Force 273 and 81-7.
