President of the Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA), Dr Donovan Bennett, is confident the government will back the next Caribbean Premier League (CPL) team to call Jamaica their home.
Bennett, who confirmed that talks are advanced for a CPL franchise returning to Jamaica, says based on all reports, conversation among stakeholders are positive.
It's good news for Jamaica, who lost the Tallawahs franchise in 2023 after the owners cited a lack of support from the government.
In the meantime, Dr Bennett who has now been in office for a year, says he's not against bringing the JCA's executive term in line, with that of Cricket West Indies (CWI), which is now three years, as opposed to two.
At a recent meeting on governance reform, CWI adopted a proposal that will see the next president and vice-president serving three years in office, up from two.
