Brandy is back as Cinderella in new 'Descendants' movie for Disney+

R&B singer and actress Brandy will reprise her role as Cinderella, some twenty-five years after she first played the part.

Disney+ announced a new instalment of the "Descendants" franchise titled "The Pocketwatch", which will see Brandy back in character.

The Descendants movies follow the offsprings of popular Disney heroes and villains, including the children of Maleficent, Cruella de Vil, Captain Hook and Mulan.

The new story will explore characters Red and Chloe, the daughters of the Queen of Hearts and Cinderella, as they navigate the balance of power between good and evil, with a little time travel mixed in by way of a magic pocketwatch.

Brandy first starred in the Emmy Award-winning 1997 television movie "Cinderella," opposite Whitney Houston as the Fairy Godmother, for ABC's Wonderful World of Disney.

A release date for the film has not yet been announced.
