DMX to be honoured at BET Awards

Late rapper DMX will be honoured at this year's BET Awards.

The special tribute to celebrate the life of the late MC is curated by friend and business partner Swizz Beatz, and will include performances of his iconic songs by Busta Rhymes, Method Man and others.

The performances will feature DMX's early hits as part of the Ruff Ryders crew as well as his most recent work.

The Yonkers, New York native, born Earl Simmons, died of a heart attack on April 9 at the age of 50.

DMX is the only artiste in history to have his first five consecutive albums debut at number one on both the Billboard 200 and Top R&B/Hip-Hop charts.

He is also the only rapper to have his first two albums debut at number one in the same calendar year.

He sold more than 74 million records worldwide and has 14 platinum records in the U.S.

The BET Awards 2021 will broadcast live this Sunday on BET.
