Michael Gambon, the Irish-born actor knighted for his illustrious career on the stage and screen has died.
He was 82.
Mr. Gambon gained admiration from a new generation of moviegoers with his portrayal of Profesor Albus Dumbledore in six of the eight Harry Potter films.
The actor died in hospital Wednesday following a bout of pneumonia.
