Rapper Jay-Z, whose given name is Shawn Carter has joined the $1 billion club, making him one of only a handful of entertainers to become a billionaire and the first hip-hop artist and rapper to do so.
Not only is he looking at a whopping $220 million in cash and investments, but he has partnerships with a number of liquor brands, in addition to his ownership of Tidal and his company Roc Nation.
Jay-Z, who grew up in a Brooklyn housing project, rose to fame in 1996 with his debut album Reasonable Doubt.
His sixth album, 2001's The Blueprint, was added to the Library of Congress' National Recording Registry earlier this year.
