Actor Michael B Jordan has responded to the controversy surrounding the name of his new rum, J'Ouvert, and has apologised for offending the Caribbean community.
In a post on his official Instagram account, he acknowledged his ignorance, adding that plans are in place to rename the rum brand.
Among those shedding light on the misuse of the name and history of the word J'Ouvert is Trinidadian-born rapper Nicki Minaj, who urged Jordan to rethink its use.
J'Ouvert is a part of Caribbean carnival culture, that was derived from 19th Century slavery.
