Netflix cancels Will Smith movie 'Bright 2'

Netflix has officially cancelled the movie Bright 2, starring Oscar winning actor Will Smith.

The film would have been a sequel to 2017's Bright, which saw Smith playing an LAPD detective working alongside magical creatures.

Sources say the cancellation is not related to his infamous slap of comedian Chris Rock at the just concluded Academy Awards.

Earlier this month, the streaming platform revealed that it was slowing development on another film starring Smith called Fast and Loose.

Walt Disney's National Geographic division is also putting the brakes on another of the star's projects.

Production has been delayed on Pole to Pole, a nature series that follows The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star as he journeys to the North and South Poles.

It is the third series that the actor has worked on with the studio, and was set to begin shooting in May.
