Rappers Travis Scott and Drake sued following deadly Astroworld festival

US rapper Travis Scott is being sued by an injured concertgoer, after chaos erupted at his Texas festival Astroworld, killing eight people.

Entertainment company Live Nation, concert promoter Scoremore and others involved in the event are also part of the lawsuit.

Manuel Souza has accused Scott and fellow rapper Drake of inciting the crowd, and is seeking $1 million in damages.

Authorities are currently investigating what led to the tragedy.

Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner revealed that the event had more security than the just concluded World Series games, noting that the Houston Police Department provided hundreds of officers in addition to more than 240 non-police security.

In a statement following the crush, Scott said he was working to help the families of the victims, while rapper Roddy Ricch has promised to donate his performance earnings from the festival to the victim's families.

Injected with drugs?

Police are also looking into separate reports that someone in the audience was injecting people with drugs.

Several concertgoers had to be revived with anti-drug overdose medicine, including a security officer who police said appeared to have an injection mark in his neck.
