The Weeknd gets top honours at Billboard Music Awards

The 2016 Billboard Music Awards, which aired on Sunday night with rapper Ludacris and singer Ciara serving as hosts, saw Canadian singer The Weeknd walking away with the top honours.
 
He earned eight awards from nineteen nominations. Among his haul was for Top R&B Artiste and R&B Song, Top Hot 100 Artiste, Top Radio Songs, Top Streaming Artiste and Top R&B Album.
     
British Singer Adele collected trophies for Top Selling Album, Top 200 Album and Top Artist.
     
Rapper Wiz Khalifa won the awards for Top Hot 100 Song of the Year and Top Rap Song, while Drake and Meek Mill won for Top Rap Artiste and Top Rap Album respectively. 
     
Top New artiste went to Fetty Wap, Top Gospel act to Kirk Franklin and Top Group to One Direction. Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift and Silento also took home trophies, while Rihanna was awarded the Billboard Chart Achievement Award. 
     
Some 11.2 million people tuned in to the awards show, a four year low for the telecast.
