Two 'SpongeBob SquarePants' episodes pulled over sensitive content

Two episodes of popular cartoon SpongeBob SquarePants are no longer available on Paramount+ and Amazon because of inappropriate content.

Season 12 features an episode titled Kwarantined Crab that centers on a virus storyline where some customers at Krusty Krab catch the Clam Flu.

Those who are assumed to have the virus are shunned and tossed in a freezer.

Kids television network Nickelodeon said it decided not to air the episode due to sensitivities surrounding the global, real-world pandemic and the increased anti-Asian violence in the United States.

The episode's storyline reflects feelings of increased isolation and hatred that many Asian communities have experienced since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
