Barita buoyed by strong credit ratings from CariCRIS

Chief Executive Officer of Barita Investments, a member of the Cornerstone Group, Ramon Small Ferguson, says the A+ ratings received from the Caribbean Information and Credit Rating Services Limited (CariCRIS) will help the group in its quest for a licence from the Bank of Jamaica to operate a commercial bank.

The group is seeking to convert Cornerstone Trust and Merchant Bank into a commercial bank.

The country's eight commercial banks had assets of a total $2.6 trillion or 79% of gross domestic product (GDP) as at the end of November last year.
