The union representing workers at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel is seeking a meeting with the majority owners in the wake of news that positions are to be made redundant.
The redundancy exercise is part of a reorganisation plan for the hotel which is now controlled by the Kevin Hendrickson-led Quivin Holdings.
However, the Bustamante Industrial Trade Union (BITU) said it was not informed of plans to close the Pegasus.
“We need a meeting to clarify to ensure that all the worker’s rights are protected. We have not been advised officially, I know talks took place earlier but at the closure we have not been advised,” BITU Vice President, Alvin Sinclair said.
The union represents 200 line staff and clerical employees at the Pegasus.
During a meeting of the hotel's Board last month it was decided that the property will be leased to Surrey Hotel Management Limited a company owned by Mr. Hendrickson.
The lease will be effective June 1.
As a result the hotel will be closed before that date.
